Taking a trip? Here’s why you should head to Australia

By on April 18, 2017

I lived briefly in Australia a few years ago and worked as a travel agent. Living in the sunburned country and selling travel taught me that there is so much to see and do in Australia, and it’s well worth a trip.

One of my favourite trips was to the Great Barrier Reef. We flew into Cairns and grabbed a small cruise. This took us on a trip to Lizard Island, and into some of the most incredible ribbon reefs. Mum went snorkelling, and I went diving for the first time (following it up with three subsequent dives.

When I was on the cruise, I spoke to some people who had visited the Great Barrier Reef 20 years earlier. They were stunned at the coral bleaching, and I quickly realised that now is the time to visit the reef, which is on the UNESCO watch list due to the risk associated with water run offs and large ships in the area.

Sydney is another place I loved to visit, although I lived a little South in a small tourist town called Kiama. Kiama is a beautiful coastal town, and if you’re taking a road trip south along the NSW coast, you have to stop for some of the famous fish and chips. I loved sitting on the beach and watching the surfers in the morning, and Kiama has a lovely small-town feel while still being nice and close to Sydney.

My favourite Australian city is Melbourne. I can definitely see myself living there in the future, and a number of my friends now live there. Melbourne has great public transport, amazing shopping, and excellent coffee. One of my favourite things to do is to spend some time wandering amongst all the alleyways which are bursting with great cafes and restaurants, along with small boutiques.

If you’re planning a trip to Australia, you’ll probably need longer than you’d think. This is a huge country with so much to see and do, and many of the main tourist sights are spread out. If you’re a business owner and you usually work while you’re away, you can still do business from Australia to the UK, as goods can easily be delivered through TNT. This makes it a breeze to conduct business, and you may even find yourself moving to Aussie!

If you’ve always wanted to travel to Australia, make 2017 the year you make it happen. Planning a trip? Leave a comment below and let me know where you’re planning to visit.
