Some of the best beaches around the world

By on July 15, 2015

A stunning beach is something to behold, and whilst everyone’s idea of paradise is different, some choices come up time and time again in polls and lists of the best in the world.

What do you look for in a paradise beach? Maybe it’s palm trees, white sand, blinding blue sea, or maybe it’s activities, surrounding nature, and authentic charm. Whatever it is, the following choices all tick many different boxes, giving visitors a true taste of paradise, in whatever guise that may be.

Anse Lazio, Praslin, Seychelles

You may disagree, but this particular beach is widely considered to be one of the best in the world, if not the best in the world. Located on the north-western edge of Praslin Island, this is probably one of the most photographed on the planet, and it’s not hard to see why. A large sweep of unbelievably white sand is lapped by calm, aquamarine waters, with those aforementioned swaying palm trees for a spot of shade.

Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand

You might not class Ko Pha Ngan as paradise during a full moon, because this is where those famous and very loud full moon parties are located every month, but when the moon wanes, the rest of the time, this beach is like something from a postcard. Also known as Sunrise Beach, the sun setting and rising here is magnificent.

Rainbow Beach, Queensland, Australia

In south-eastern Queensland you will find Rainbow Beach. The name is derived from the sand dunes which surround it, which shimmer in different colours, ranging from orange, yellow and red, to black and brown, depending on which way the sun catches it. This is a wild and sweeping beach, a different kind of paradise, but a truly beautiful one regardless.

Aharen Beach, Tokashiki Island, Japan

You might not think of Japan instantly when you’re considering paradise beaches, but the Okinawa Chain has some stunning choices to visit. Crystal clear waters are home to a dazzling array of marine life, including visiting humpback whales, manta rays, and brightly coloured fish on a regular basis.

Whitehaven Beach, Australia

The Whitsunday Islands are many people’s idea of heaven, and this particular beach is without a doubt the best in the area. The sand is so white you may have trouble looking at it without sunglasses, and the swathe of sea, also blindingly blue, is a treat for the eyes. You might not believe what you’re seeing.

Matemwe, Zanzibar

Wrapped up tightly with tradition, this fishing village on the north-eastern coast of this beautiful island has a stunning beach, is relatively quiet, and is also within easy reach of some very popular dive sites too. Very green and rustic, this is paradise in a different view, which will probably tick many boxes for many different people.

If you’re looking for paradise, whatever you consider that to be, then these choices certainly fall into that category.
