How to get more travel in your life this year

By on May 25, 2018

Most people want to travel more, but with full-time jobs, it can be difficult to find the time. I don’t know about you, but before I went travelling I assumed you needed a nice full bank account and weeks of vacation every year to make it happen.

Luckily, there are plenty of ways you can get more travel in your life this year without blowing your budget or quitting your job. Here are some tips:

Take a cruise

One of the great things about cruising, is you get to see more destinations for your buck. That’s because you’ll travel overnight and wake up ready to explore a new place. This allows you to see more in a shorter time period, particularly if you’re hoping to see the highlights of a region. If you know you have some vacation time coming up, why not treat yourself with a last minute cruise? You’ll have plenty of time to relax onboard while you’re at sea, so you feel refreshed once you return.

Stay close to home

Travel doesn’t have to mean long-haul flights. Wherever you live, there are sure to be interesting things to do and see nearby- after all, tourists from around the world have often flown long-haul to get there. If you’re short on time, look into some destinations that are within a few hours drive. Not only will this save you time since you won’t be dealing with any airports, but you’ll also save money.

Another good option? Book a staycation. Look for cheap hotel deals in your city (or close by) and take a weekend away. Then commit to seeing all those local sights you’ve been putting off since you can ‘see them anytime.’

Enjoy business trips

If you have to travel for business, it’s often not a big deal to ask to extend that trip for a day or two. You can even see if the airline will let you add in a stopover on your way home so you can explore a new city. Iceland Air is great for this, and it allows you to stop in Iceland for free if you’re flying between Europe and the US. Some airlines like Turkish Airlines and Emirates will even give you a free hotel room if you stop over for a certain amount of time in Dubai or Istanbul.
