Top ways to make your vacations go more smoothly in 2019
By Simon Duncan on December 26, 2018
While most people enjoy traveling, there’s little doubt that it can also be a stressful experience. Before you know it, you may even find yourself wishing for a vacation from your vacation. But there are a few things you can do to simplify the process and ensure you get the most possible out of your vacation.
Here’s how you can make your trips go more smoothly next year:
Hire a car
The trips where I’ve felt the least stressed have all had one thing in common: I hired a car. In Spain for example, you can rent a car at Malaga airport, travel around the area, and return it on your way out of the country. It’s now easier and more cost-effective than ever before to hire a car on your vacation, and it makes the whole experience less stressful. After all, you have the freedom to go where you want and do whatever you like every step of the way.
That means that you don’t need to spend money on ride sharing, taxis, or public transport, and you won’t be waiting for a bus or train when you would rather be seeing the sights.
Plan in advance
I have a tendency to forget to plan my vacations. Sure, I’ll get a hotel and flights, but I forget to look into what I’d like to do in the area, and the key sights to see. Unfortunately, this can lead to a whirlwind of sights, while I often miss out on others that are sold out and require tickets.
This can be easily solved by planning in advance. Take the time to read a few travel blogs and recommendations about your destination, and not only will you be more prepared when you arrive, but you’ll also build up even more excitement before the trip.
Take it easy
If you don’t go on vacation often, you may be tempted to pack in as many activities and tourist sites as you can. Unfortunately, everything starts to blur together and becomes just another ‘thing,’ when you’re tired and your feet are aching. Be sure to give yourself a number of breaks so you can actually enjoy yourself. Some of the best memories from my trips are the times spend sitting at a nice cafe and people watching.
