3 Reasons to go on a Tour
By Simon Duncan on February 17, 2018
Are you considering going on a tour this year? It may be the perfect holiday solution for you for a few reasons, firstly if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with the sheer number of steps involved with planning a trip, then a tour can take away some of the stress and drama. A tour may introduce you to different locations and activities. Thirdly it’s a great way to meet new people! Traveling is one of life’s greatest joys and the truth is a tour can make it something completely different, so whether it’s your first tour or you’ve been on plenty before, if you’re on the fence about whether to take one this year, read to learn more about the reasons why I personally love tours as a way to travel around:
1. Save Time
So much time goes into planning a trip: there’s so much that needs to be considered when planning a trip, from where you’ll still, lining up all the departure times, entry times to museums, what days things are open and closed, the list goes on and on and on and is enough to make people really stressed. If you want to feel relaxed on your holiday and just show up and be prepared to have a great time, then maybe a tour is the perfect answer for you. If you have a demanding job, then chances are you don’t want your holiday to feel demanding too! If you book a tour, you know that everything will be arranged for you and you will just have to show up and be whisked away to amazing destinations – it sounds pretty good to me!
2. Change of Scenery
If you plan your own trip, then you’ll go exactly where you want and while that sounds perfect, you may not end up where you’re supposed to end up. Tours tend to follow specific itineraries for a reason: they’re well researched to make the most sense, to follow the best routes, to provide the best value for money and to cover as many of the best highlights as possible to ensure you see as much of a place as possible. Choosing a tour may mean up you going on a different route to what you had imagined, but it can often end up being an incredible blessing. If you haven’t been to a country or region before, it can be hard to choose where to go and that’s why it’s often a good idea to leave it up to the seasoned professionals who have spent extended periods of time in the region!
3. You’ll Meet New People
Often what makes a place so special is not the place, but the people we share it with. The people you’ll meet on the tour, such as the other guests, the local guides, and the foreign tour guides are likely going to enhance your trip, leave a lasting impression and ensure that you go home with friendships that will last a lifetime. Because of the nature of a tour – you’re essentially spending days or even weeks on end with the same people, friendships form extremely fast and you may be surprised to find how close you become to strangers in such a short space of time. Don’t be surprised if your favourite thing from your trip isn’t the photos you take, the gifts you buy, but the friendships you take away with you!
Traveling on tour is a great way to see a new country and you may be surprised by how much you enjoy this form of travel. Have you been on a tour before? Let me know in the comments below how your experience was!
