There are few countries better suited for a road trip than gorgeous Ireland. If you’re considering taking a road trip in Ireland, check out Chill Insurance to make sure you’re covered, and then be sure to do one of these drives:

The Burren Beauty

This drive is 68 km long, and you’ll end up at in Clare, overlooking Galway Bay and the Atlantic. Get started in Kilfenora, travel through Lisdoonvarna and stop in Black Head. You’ll be surrounded by rocky Irish terrain on one side and sparkling blue sea on the other.

Giant’s Causeway Coast

You’ve probably seen photos of Giant’s Causeway all over Instagram, and this drive will give you an incredible tour of many of the many tourist sites in Northern Ireland. Get started in Belfast, before driving up the Northern Coast to the Giant’s Causeway. Stop here and take plenty of photos before heading to the Bushmills distillery. Grab fish and chips in Portstewart or Portrush, and enjoy this 190 km trip.

Ring of Kerry

This 200 km drive is one of the most famous in the world. You’ll find in Ireland’s south west, and you’ll follow the Kerry coastline – named by many to travel magazines as one of the most scenic in the world. Drive along the Wild Atlantic Way, and be sure to stop at Derrynane, Kenmare, Killarney, and Valentia Island.

Sky Road

This short, 20 km drive is well worth it for the jaw-droppingly beautiful views. This is part of the scenic drive along the west coast of Ireland (the Wild Atlantic Way). In the east, you’ll see the 12 Bens Mountain Range, while Clifden’s Sky Road is one of the top tourist attractions in the region. With Turbot Island, Inishturk, Streamstown Bay, and the Sky Road Peninsula, you’ll be able to explore Promontory FOrts, Standing Stones, Megalithic Tombs, and more.

Kilkenny’s River

Once you’ve explored the coastline, head inland for a classic Irish Drive. Start in Kilkenny and drive along the River Nore through Inistioge, Thomastown, and Bennettsbridge. Stop along the way for snacks and photos, before heading towards the River Barrow. Drive on the R729 and then switch to the R702 to head back through Gowran and Goresbridge to Kilkenny. This is a great family trip, with plenty of kid-friendly stops along the way. Check out the National Reptile Zoo and Woodstock Gardens.
