Las Vegas is like Disneyland for adults. But there’s so much to see and do here that it can be easy to suddenly find that your trip is over and you’ve barely done half of the things you had planned to do. If you’re visiting Las Vegas, you’ll want to see some of the Las Vegas attractions while still making time for the casinos. Here are some of the main things to see and do:
Place a Bet
You can’t go to Vegas and not do some gambling, and you have plenty of options to choose from in the City of Sin. Caesars Palace is one of the best options, with 50-years of gambling behind it. The Bellagio is known for poker, although many people head downtown to Golden Nugget to play with veterans who seem to have been sitting in the same seats for years.
See a show
Vegas is continually populated with A-list bands and musicians who are setting up shop for extended runs. From Elton John to Celine Dion, Backstreet Boys to Bruno Mars, be sure to see who is in town as far in advance as you can- and get tickets in advance. Of course, there are all the usual shows in Vegas as well, including comedy acts, singers, aerial shows, and more.
Be worldly
Sure, it seems tacky, but once you get there this homage to notable worldly locales is exciting. Visit Paris and see the Eiffel tower. See St. Mark’s Square and ride the gondolas at the Venetian. Check out the replica of Lake Como at Bellagio or take photos of the Statue of Liberty at New-York-New-York.
See the Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam took 21,000 men five years to build, and the curving cement dam looks mighty fine on the Colorado River. It’s well worth taking a day trip and leaving the glitz and glamour of Vegas behind (temporarily) to see this architectural feat for yourself.
Hit the pool
Summer is no joke in Vegas, so cool off with pool parties between April and October. If you’re one of the poor suckers bringing kids to Las Vegas, take them to Wet ‘n’ Wild. If you’re lucky enough to be kid-free for the trip (or for life), head to Encore Beach Club and spend your day splashing, dancing, and drinking while listening to the best music by the best DJs.
