Visiting Miami? Be sure to read these tips first

Brrrr it’s cold out. You know what you need? A trip to Miami. While Miami is a fun vacation destination any time of the year, it’s particularly great when you’re escaping the snow and rain for some fun in the sun.

If you’re planning a trip, here are some top tips to make sure you get the most out of your visit:

Visit the zoo

Zoo Miami is one of the top and most well-rated zoos in the United States, and when you visit, you’ll see why. All of the exhibits are cage-free, and the Miami climate makes it possible for a wide variety of animals from around the world to live there- including regions like Asia, Australia, and Africa. This zoo is actively leading the way in many different wildlife conservation and global environmental initiatives. Whether you’re traveling alone or with kids, this zoo is a great day out and well worth a visit.

Go shopping

Miami is a great place for shopping- whether you’re wandering boutiques or hitting the outlets. If you want to do some serious shopping, rent a car in Miami and head to Lincoln Road. This huge complex was designed by one of Miami’s most famous architects in the 50s- Morris Lapidus. These days, you’ll walk down streets lined with shops, restaurants, art galleries, and more. This is somewhere where you could spend an entire day, so be sure to plan your trip accordingly.

Check out South Beach

If you do decide to book a rental car in Miami, you can use it to go to South Beach. While there are many great reasons to visit Miami, the public transport isn’t one of them. By renting a car, you can go wherever you like, and pop down to the beach whenever the mood strikes you.

If you’re visiting Miami, a day at the beach is a must. You’ll be able to drink the beachside bars, shop in the boutiques, tan in the sand, and cool down in the sea.

Go to the Jungle

If you make it to southern Miami, Monkey Jungle is well worth a visit. Here, you’ll wander along pathways while monkeys scamper along beside and above you. Watch them swing through the trees, and enjoy seeing how they interact with visitors and each other. This is an amazing day out if you’ve got kids, and the whole family will love seeing how monkeys live in a place that’s much closer to their natural habitat than the cages found in most zoos.

Take a road trip

Of course, there are numerous attractions to keep you busy within Miami. But Florida is packed with fun places to explore, so if you hire a car you should definitely consider taking a road trip.

If you go to Key West, you’ll be able to wander along the southernmost tip of the continental United States. There are plenty of great restaurants and cute shops here as well. And if you love wildlife, a trip to the Everglades is a must. Here, you’ll learn all about the local wildlife- from the alligators to exotic birds and more.

If you’re bringing the kids (or even if you’re not), a trip to Orlando is a great way to spend a few days. Here, you’ll find theme parks like Universal Studios, Disneyworld, SeaWorld, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and much more. Do yourself a favor and stay close to the parks so you can arrive early each day before it begins to heat up and become too crowded.
